journal 101.

I was watching Ellen yesterday, not sure if it was actually that day's episode because it was via Tivo, but I heard the cutest thing. Ellen was interviewing Lady Antebellum(I LOVE THEM!!) and as they were talking Hilary's love life got brought up and she told the story of her proposal back in July. During this proposal her now husband gave her copies of love letters along with journal entries he'd wrote, about her or mentioning her. While some may say cheesy, I say slightly cheesy but yet amazing idea. I it was quite adorable. why?? because I think the idea of journaling is awesome. I feel they are a great way and the perfect way to document life. Granted they can be annoying as you look back through them and see how annoying and obsessive over certain things you(I) used to be. But therefore comes yet another great benefit of journals: look back, review, learn, and change.
I'm a nerd I know, but there's something about the idea of having the opportunity to look back and re-live memories anytime you want that hooks me. However dropped the somewhat cliche and cheesy journal name years ago when a certain guy I was dating also loved to write in "journals" but referred to his as a life history. I liked it so I adapted it too. You make it your own and do whatever you want with or to it and to be honest I probably should create a brand new name combing life history and scrapbook because the poor thing does both jobs : )
Point is, it doesn't have to be bought at deseret book, or have JOURNAL written across the top to count as a life history. Call it what you want, write in what you want, just write. keep documenting. Promise you won't regret it.
