birthday girl.

Happy Be-lated brithday to my sister Ash!!!

There are many reasons why I love ash but to name a few:
1. She's a kid at heart and brings out the kid in me. Which is why to quote taylor "She turns into a 5 year old when you come home!"

2. Her sense of humor-she cracks herself up!! : ) she tries to make every situation funny and is always happy go lucky.

3. She's a very humble and forgiving person. she sets such a great example for me!

4. She's who I consider one of my very best friends, one who knows me well! She's such an amazing listener and will let me vent and tell all my stories without complaining or giving advice unless needed : )

5. She's down to earth always reminding me of what's important in life, keeps me in check when I wanna get wrapped up in things that don't matter.

6. She shared my love of Ellen!!

Happy be-lated birthday Ash!! I love you!!

day of birth

16 years ago, my youngest brother, Tanner Olsen entered the world, although I'm sure he didn't enter the world crying and screaming though. I'm sure he came into the world all smiles and just laughing. that is the kind of man that tanner man is.

A lot of my posts consists of me talking about my family, which is why a few posts down I talked about Tanner and his amazing dancing skills. besides dancing Tanner is talented in many other ways-he is amazing at ceramics and woods, great uncle to Kezzy, athletics, but most of all he is such a happy go lucky kind of guy. he treats everyone with respect, and talks to everyone befriending them instantly. I'm so grateful to have a little (but taller) brother who also is so Christlike there to remind me to be better person with his famous comments like.... "well that was kind(said in a sarcastic voice)" "JUDGING!". all in all thanks for being a great example to me Tanner man. I love you! now on a serious note, everyone watch the roads cause he's officially legal to drive!!! jk he's an excellent driver : )

Happy Birthday Bud!!!

seattle grace.

Grey's Anatomy is my favorite show, no secret there. I love it so much and have seen every episode of all the six seasons so far and could probably tell you about any character on the show and what part they play in the show. I'm obsessed to the point that in nursing school I am often raising my hands commenting "there's an episode on Grey's about that", "oh yeah I learned about that on Grey's one time!". Luckily enough I wasn't the only obsessed one in my class so that at least a few others knew what I was talking about and could join in. Point is: Grey's never fails to disappoint me and last night with the season finale they were successful once again to leave me on the edge of my seat, silently cussing, cheering, and yes crying (not the first time crying during a Grey's episode that I can promise). For those of you who missed it, I won't ruin anything but if you still wanna be friends watch it ASAP, and for those of you not planning on watching it, shame on you! you should really get your priorities in line : )
All I'll say is that after last nights epidose I'm just glad that Mcjustreallyreallyreallyhot didn't get killed off, cause I just LOVE him!!

mmmmmmm!!!

one picture just isn't enough : )
thank you ABC for the most amazing show and can't wait for next season!!!

Now more importantly I had an epiphany last night while watching Grey's, I saw what bitterness and hatred can do to you when you let it in and hold on to it letting it eat you alive until you are no longer yourself and start doing things and acting like you would not normally act. Point is, I'm a bitter person, and I hold grudges, I know I shouldn't but I do. and my lil sis would even agree with me when she pretty much told me the other day that I never let things go.thanks chan : ) I'm working on it!! It's hard for me, especially when it comes to a select few family members (who will remain nameless) situations that when I think about it brings me to tears no matter what and suddenly turns me fighting mad until I get almost as bitter as this certain someone was on the show last night. I need to stop it, that's the epiphany I had. I need to learn to let go and let forgiveness work and forget about it. Because in these two situations that I'm referring to, both family members have long forgiven and forgotten but me third party person refuses to, that is refused to until now : ) I think my older sister was a genius when she said to me months ago "have you ever thought that the reason the situations for these two family members won't change because you need to get over it and forgive??" thanks ash, I'm just barely realizing it for myself now and I'm going to work on it. try really really hard!!

Dancing Queens

I love to dance. not that I am any good at it, but I love it. My brother tanner however is someone who is extremely good at it. ballroom dancing is the one class I regret not taking in high school (well and chemistry cause that sure could have lightened my load in college) and is the one class that I swear I will go back and take one day when I can afford to take fun college classes. But enough about me, ballroom just so happens to be tanner mans specialty and is on the varsity team at timpview as a sophmore. With living out of town missing out on things is a given but his dance concerts are one thing I am always so grateful for to be able to watch when I'm around, conveniently I make them a lot : )

Most recently was the spring concert, about two weeks ago, which was a mask/masquerade theme and I loved it, of course. The theme also included some famous cartoon characters that we couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a picture with.
Tanner man you did a great job as well as the rest of the team, and classes, trust me I saw the show twice! Grandma and Grandpa G even came to see the matinee performance.

post Friday night show

Pre-show entertainment for the matinee : )

obviously we didn't inherit our height from our grandparents

Kez: "excuse me, who the heck are you??"

I should have placed money on this bet that she wouldn't cry cause I would have won! was a little unsure of the idea but then again so was batman-acted like he hadn't held a child in years, if ever.

long live dance.
love, dancing queen.

today while the sun shines

This is how things are looking for me lately. My apologies to everyone for my sporadically grumpy behavior and negativity, especially my first week here in Provo. To be honest this was a summer that I wanted to skip and never have happen so my bitterness shown through a lot lately. HOWEVER, things are looking up! including my attitude and positivity. Still officially unemployed but after a phone call last night from a family friend it looks like I will be working come first week of June, still keeping my fingers crossed though that everything works out as planned. But I've been enjoying having the month off so far, a lot of family time and actually getting sleep and rest has been sooo nice! Now all I need is for seven peaks to open and for the sun to continue shining : )

Run a 5K? check.

Tuesday- Tanner:"Brittany wanna run a 5K with me this weekend?"
Me:(thinking to myself....HECK NO!)"Yeah sure. but tanner what if I come in last place? I'm not good at running??"
Tanner: " don't worry, you won't come in last place"

Wednesday-begin running more miles on the treadmill than I've ever ran before

Friday-Pull hamstring practicing running for the race

Saturday-
I successfully run my 1st 5K!!!!!

Timpview has a new thing they do now where you can run a 5k to work off truancy's instead of going to truancy school (I wish they would have done it back when I was in high school!!) but the best part is that you can have others run under your name to count as well. kinda confusing. BUT since my brothers are so great and didn't need the truancy's Tanner and I decided to run it for fun since I've always wanted to run one and never have. And by Friday night Tanner and I had talked Tay and Jake into running as well. here is the order in which we crossed the line: Tanner, Taylor, Jake, and then yup you guessed it me! My time was 25 mins which I was way proud of considering that I'd never ran 3 miles that fast in the whole three days I had to prepare for it : )

Me crossing the finish line, thanks fam!

I prefer the cropped version much better : )

Tanner was right I came no where near coming in last place, this is to prove that

I would like to say that I will keep up my near daily gym attendance up this week but after running more miles in a week than I have pretty much ever ran, I'm giving my body a break. thanks for running with me bro's.
oh ps. did I mention that I'm not even sore today?? BOO-YAH!!!!!
Happy running : )

Happy Mother's Day to the BEST mom in the whole world : )

If there is one thing that I have learned for myself recently from helping take care of my niece is that mother hood is sooo hard!! It's amazing to me how demanding these little creatures are, holy cow it's exhausting. Which is why I must do a shout out to my mama on mothers day.

My mom is one who always puts family first, always thinking of her kids first before herself. She is non-stop moving all day long making sure all our needs our met and that we're all taken care of and not only that but happy as well before ever thinking of her own needs, even though the list for herself is long and just as demanding. She then extends on outside our family to care for everyone in the ward, neighbors, and extended family. I appreciate it mom.

Mom sets an example for me not only with her selflessness, but with her love of the gospel and how she lives her life. She lives her life right, as well as gives a 100% to whatever calling she receives. She also supports my dad in whatever calling he receives, standing by his side no matter what.

She's my #1 fan, always pushing me to do what I want in life and to follow my dreams. For example: If it wasn't for my mom I would have given up on nursing years ago after the first day of my CNA class, but she pushed me to continue and I will be forever grateful. Along with being my number one fan she puts up with a lot of whining, venting, and complaining from me on everything in life: roommates, school, friends, relationship status, etc.. you name it she's heard an ear full on it and always listens without complaint. thank you mom, because of you we are not afraid of hard : )

My mom is great in many more ways but what I'm basically trying to say is that I love you mom! and that you have made me who I am today, I wouldn't be here without ya and that I'll forever need you more than you know. Thanks for always being there and loving me no matter what. I appreciate everything a lot more than I'm sure is voiced. Thank you for the sacrifices you make on a daily basis, Love you mom.
...
Mother's day now is not only about my mom but I have my sister as well I need to wish a happy mother's day to.

Being an aunt is something I've always wanted and because my sister chose to be a mom I now have the blessing of Keznee in my life, and I love my sister for that sacrifice she has made (because I now have the cutest niece ever!)

My sister is an amazing mom as well. I've watched her on multiple occasions and I admire the patience, and love she has for Kezy. As well as the time she puts in to being her mommy. With Jake's current situation in the army I admire Ash as well for her bravery, Jake's a great dad but with him being gone off and on the past couple months (and soon leaving for the year) my sister has had to do a lot by herself and on her own-and she's done a great job. I of course don't know how she does it because I would just throw my hands up and quit but even though I'm sure she feels like doing that she keeps going and still with a smile on her face.

I love you Ash, thanks for giving me another example to follow for when I become a mom one day and for giving me the opportunity to be an auntie, and the favorite one at that : )

Happy mother's day to two great mom's, love you both. I can only hope that one day I'm as great of a mom as you. Because heaven knows without ya this is what motherhood would contain for me....

guess who's back

Two years ago this guy left us to serve in the Finland Mission.

He served our last name proud, but even better served faithfully in the result blessing so many people's lives. His "welcome home" was today and the whole meeting I found myself staring at him thinking to myself there is no way we are this grown up! I remember back in the good ol' days Lyle and I were ghostwriters (ya know the old show that used to be on), yeah we made pens and everything running around writing things down at family gatherings as well as writing letters to each other. All that letter writing when we were younger trained us well because I was able to keep in touch with him the past two years while he was away.

I probably should mention that besides Lyle's talk of course my favorite part of the meeting was when Flo'Rida was announced to say the opening prayer : )

(Forgot to get an updated picture of us today so enjoy the one from two years ago)

I couldn't be more proud of you Cuz. never forget, LYLAC : )
ps. I still think about the time you broke my Frisbee every time I drive by that park hehe

Class of 2010

congrats SUU nursing class of 2010!!!! Since i was going to be in Provo during graduation on Saturday I attended the pinning ceremony(it's a nurse's thing), and it's embarrassing to admit, but I will justify it after the semester I've been through, that I started crying. yup no graduates were in tears, just little ol' me in the audience. Here's why:
Everything suddenly hit me!! and it all became so overwhelming that my sleep deprived, emotional self couldn't hold it in anymore. As i stared at the graduates I couldn't help but picture my class, that will be us in one year from now! I also realized that this class who I had gotten closer too than any of the other classes weren't going to be around next year.
I remember when Candice first got accepted to the program and I got a text message from her while I was sitting in my Maymester class with Samha, then to come home and celebrate together. also I remember Tamara getting accepted and everyone talking about it at work. I attended their pledge ceremony at the first of the year (with Robert Warby hahaha) where they made their pledges as nurses, and was also Candice's first live IV stick.
After that I continued to live through the nursing program aka stress out and hate life vicariously through them that first year as I turned in my application and hoped to go through it all for myself. I got accepted and went through this first year with constant advice from them, old papers to use for examples of what the professors wanted, study guides, etc.. which helped make my load a little easier.

Basically what I'm trying to say is congratulations class of 2010. can't believe the 2 years is already over. Thanks for making me cry visualizing myself in your shoes in a year from now, as well as making me realize how much I'm going to miss running into you in the dungeon next year : ) best of luck to you!!
