ordinary-extraordinary

I've heard the saying many times before that the gospel turns ordinary men into extraordinary men. Such is the case with my dad.

18 years ago, clear back in 1991, my dad was put in as bishop of Helper ward. I don't remember much of those 6 years, except for always having to behave in church because dad had a clear view of everything I did, but I do know that he fulfilled his calling faithfully and served people and the Lord constantly.

Ten days ago on May 3, 2009 my dad was put in as bishop AGAIN, only this time it was of a different ward. A couple days before this happened my dad casually asked me one afternoon if I could keep a secret. He had a smirk on his face that made me think something was up but he wouldn't tell me straight up just kept teasing me asking if I could keep a secret. So me being the curious person I am, and knowing the history of how depressing and bad news come from our family meetings I figured I'd better call one to find out what was going on. So I called everyone into the front room and told my dad to take over the floor : )

When the news came out I breathed a sigh of relief cause for the first time in what feels like a long time a family meeting hadn't produced bad news, I'm not sure if my dad agreed with me fully or not haha. I love you Dad, you're going to do a great job!

My parents 18 years ago, funny thing is that the boys weren't even born yet, my mom is pregnant with Taylor here. But this time around Ashlee's the pregnant one and my parents are preparing to be grandparents. crazy!

Here's a real special picture of us girls and the Garlick cousins 18 years ago : )

In comparison, here we are today...
