ever just wanted to get away? crave an adventure? just wanna go on a road trip?? well I was wanting to do D) all of the above so that's just what I did! luckily enough my good friend Jeni was wanting the same thing so we planned a last minute trip to Moab over memorial day weekend.
Now when I saw planned I mean we decided we were going on a whim, being spontaneous. We booked no hotel, no campsite and just packed the car for an overnighter with clothes for all seasons and a tent just in case. What an adventure it was!!
Friday: Jeni got off work and got to Provo a little after 4:30, an hour later we were stopped in Price gathering food and ice to fill our cooler. An hour and a 1/2 later stopping in Green River to get some dinner, trying to find the famous burger joint that neither of us knew the name of, but after going to the wrong diner ended up at the Pub Ray's Tavern. Horrible customer service and crowds found us in the back by the pool tables. 3 guys, Jake, Nick and Clark, soon joined us and after bonding over conversation on horrible customer service turns out I went to high school with Clark. who'd of thought! one pool game and loss as well as group photo later we were back on the road headed for Moab at 9:30pm.

Arrive in Moab about 10:00pm, cruise through town only to find sign after sign of "No Vacancy", including camp grounds we back tracked 30 miles to the rest area. Ever spent the night in a rest area? me neither this was a first! Since I'm so adventurous aka paranoid I didn't want people to be able to look in and see 2 girls sleeping then try to rob us, kill us or even just scare us. Thank goodness we at least had some running water in the bathroom to brush our teeth. The thought of waking up to someones face looking in through the window wasn't appealing to me so we made a "tent" out of our blankets we'd packed covering all the windows which increased temperature to about 100 degrees! it was so hot in the car but I felt safe (thanks for sacrificing Jeni!!!). Getting comfy was a trick but after all the people from the outside stopped talking outside our car and laughing at how our car looked like someone could be doing dirty things in it I fell asleep. Not for long since we were awake unable to sleep longer and eating breakfast from out cooler at 6:30am.
Saturday: got ready for the day at the rest area, lots of trips back and forth from the bathroom to the car. Headed straight for arches and proceeded to hike around and see all the arches we could see until we had hiked over 7 miles and spent the whole morning and afternoon in the sun and heat(TONS of pictures to follow) we headed into town to try our luck again at finding a bed and hopefully a shower of some sorts. No luck! still no vacancy's. (guess we learned our lesson about being spontaneous to a popular vacation spot over a holiday) Instead we stopped at Maverick got some cokes(jeni really got Pepsi but coke is better so we'll say we both had cokes), sunbathed on the cement, changed clothes and went to shop through main street. We first learned about the t-shirt shop a few years ago when Jeni and I took a trip to Moab with the May brothers and Tyson had a shirt he'd designed about Toyota's. We tracked down this shop and ended up getting the coolest shirts!! I highly recommend that if you love moab, trucks, jeeps, jeep safari, or offroading then go there pick your t-shirt and own design. It's amazing!!
Did I mention it was SO windy?? cause it was ridiculously windy!
After changing into our awesome new shirts we went to Zak's pizza and ate some delicious food including honey chicken pizza, so yummy!! We'd also eaten at Zak's a few years ago with the May's which is where we fell in love with the food and the photoshoot opportunity the napkins provide : )
Due to not finding a place decent to stay and not wanting to spend another night in the rest area, this time filthy dirty from hiking all day, we decided to make the drive and head home Saturday night. Such a great trip, such an amazing adventure, lots of inside jokes formed, great summer trip, and I loved it. So glad we went!!! thanks for the memories : ) Love you Moab and hopefully be seeing you again soon.

Man we are so fun! By the way my uncle saw our pictures on facebook and said we looked just like the homeless people sleeping near his work. Not nice! Can't wait for our next adventure.
