Mi Madre & Padre
Dear Mom and Dad,
Thank you! After a phonecall last night I realized that I don't tell you this enough, or acknowledge all the things you do for me. thank you for:
-always being there for me even though I am miles away
-being my biggest fans, always there to remind me that I can do whatever I want to do and for cheering me on even on my downer days
-taking the brunt of my stress when your phonecall happens to fall just so perfectly at the time I need to rash out and vent and yes even sometimes yell...
-accepting my apology when I call back shortly after the vent session. I'm sorry things get taken out on you that aren't your fault and have nothing to do with you majority of the time.
-all your help!!! I wouldn't be where I'm at without you and I appreciate everything that you've done for me and still do for me.
-the newsletters and the other little things you do to remind that you're there and that you love me
-teaching me responsibility and hard work ethic when I was growing up. It's paying off.
-Your constant example. I still need it : )
I love you!!
love me.

Blah Blah
-it's October, time flies!!
-Nursing school is still so hard and I leave everyday feeling like a failure and that I'll never make it to RN status.
-Jessie is a mom for real now, and baby Max is adorable!
-I miss my family.
-I love my friends! without them Cedar would not be the same
-I slept in until 10:00am the past two days and it was amazing! haven't slept in for weeks, needed it.
-Itunes has become an addiction lately, I love buying new music.
-People are disapointing! ever seen so much potential in someone and they just don't even try?! most frustrating/irritating thing. Sometimes I just wanna reach out and shake some sense into them.
-It's getting colder and I hate it. I'm pretty sure I have seen the last of my shorts wearing days and I can feel my SAD inching in closer and closer everyday.
-I love living so close to St George. I went down just for the night last night and it was so fun, and warm
-SUU actually has a decent football team now, makes games way more exciting and worthwhile to go too
-Life is exhausting, and hard. but still great : )

must be the money
that I don't have that makes me wanna spend it like a mad women! okay okay not really but I have found a few deals lately and have fallen in love with some things and just couldn't help myself! just to list a few....
My red vans : )
Pretty excited about my new purchases! haha oh the joys...
baby steps
I hate snakes!! in fact they are the thing I am most afraid of, and have been for as long as I can remember. even the smallest water snake can make me take off running, screaming, in the opposite direction! However, two weeks ago I did something huge.... I held a snake for the first time in my life! let's just say it was a total different experience then what I thought it would be like and they are quite the slimy creatures I thought they were, the texture was even worse!

JTS : )
Jacqueline Taryn Shields is officially 20 since Friday! (yes I'm a little late, like usual)
Jacqui and I both attended the same high school, but weren't actually friends until we were brought together through a mutual friend down at SUU 2 years ago. Pretty much our friendship is an example to me of how everything happens for a reason, and you really are supposed to meet the people you meet in life.
Jacqui is not only gorgeous but is seriously so talented! She is so creative, good cook, hilarious, has an amazing voice and always has the cutest clothes! She is also a person I can talk to anything about and usually do talk to for hours on end. She's a great roommate, awesome friend, and amazing person!

It has to be said...
I don't mind being single.
Wanna know the one question I hate being asked more than anything, are you dating anyone? honestly why should that be important as to who I am. Obviously if you know me well enough or are one of my good friends you would know if I was dating anyone or not so thanks but no thanks, perhaps you'd like to know my favorite color instead.
I don't think being single at 21 is a bad thing. I have a great life, I really do. I've heard people say, "oh I can't wait until I'm married and have someone to share my life with". I don't see me walking through life alone because I'm not married, I have lots of really good friends and even family that I share my life with and have plenty of pictures to prove it : )
Basically, I don't think I'm ready for marriage. There's so many things I still wanna do in life and one of them is be selfish, I'm not quite ready to give that one up yet. I enjoy everything being all about me and not having someone else to have to coordinate my plans with, or check in to. I think if I was to be married now I would feel left out when my friends did random trips, dance parties, football games, etc... and I don't want to feel that way. When I get married I wanna know that I've fully lived through that "independence" stage of life and I'm ready to move on.
I suck at cooking. I'm not ready to be the little wifey who has to come up with what's for dinner, my poor husband would starve to death because I don't think he could survive on what I would call my creative diet: crackers and cheese, cold cereal, Wendy's, Costa Vida, mac & cheese, coke, hot pockets,Panda Express, PBJ's, Arby's, cookies, Maggie Moo's, etc... and I don't need any more complainers in my life.
Marriage is a great thing, don't get me wrong, I have lots of friends(my whole graduating class) that are married and love it. I want more than anything to find the love like my parents have as well as my Sister & Bro in law have, but I need time to find it, those kind of guys are pretty scarce these days : ) After being a CNA and seeing adorable elderly couples I want nothing more than to find one I can grow old with, I need to be sure it's gonna last.
Besides, nursing school is tough! I thank goodness every day I go to class that I'm not in some of the situations that the other students are in who have 2-4 kids, a job, a husband(or even single mom's), and have to do school. I can barely do it taking care of myself! Kudos to you guys though, you're amazing.
Basically, life is great and I don't feel like I'm missing out on too much being single, also don't feel like I should be viewed as less of a person. It'll happen when it happens so any excess pressure or commentary isn't gonna make it happen any sooner : )
and that is my soap box for the day. whew! thank you I feel much better.

Lately I...
Ash has been on my case lately for an update so here it goes. Here's a little insight into my life as a student nurse...
I spend my days down in the "dungeon" halfway freezing to death and halfway numb fro m sitting.
I attend 3 hour classes which some drag on way longer than others.
I've never been more excited to learn.
I haul a 50 lb backpack around campus, along with a "lunchbox" full of nursing assessment supplies around 2 out of the 3 days I have clases.
I see the same 20 people in my class every day, and am slowly getting to know them and love them.
I spend my free time in the library attempting to study but... socializing more.
I get excited over little things like my name badge, and wearing my uniform for the first time last Friday.
and...I get overwhelmed...a lot!
however fun still fits very tightly into my schedule so here's a preview as to what I do when I'm not being a nursing student.

Visit Maggie Moo's

Parowan Derby

Longboarding : )

Watching and Meeting funny comedians...Jeff Dye in particular

Dance Parties

Cake for Matt's birthday

Taking advantage of all the free food opportunities

Playing Frisbee...well kinda

also we had our first football game of the season against Dixie State. (This is for you Channy) We SLAUGHTERED them : ) The stadium was packed, we had over 10,028 people true story, check the desert news or daily herald. It was so much fun to get all decked out, go to the tailgate party and actually win!

grandma's little young women
Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE my niece?! She's seriously the cutest little girl. I got to play with her this weekend and it made me realize just how much I've missed her the past two weeks. She's adorable.

Love you baby girl!! can't wait to see you again in 2 weeks, don't change too much on me.
PS. can I just say that this baby being in our family has proved to me these things: My parents are the amazing grandparents I knew they'd be, Jake and Ash are adorable parents and seem to be thriving over it, My brothers make the cutest uncles ever! and Channy will forever be cuter and better with little kids than I can ever hope to be.

days of "labor"
I went home for labor day this year. I wasn't planning on it but I had the day off this year(which never happens) so I took full advantage and after clinicals Friday myself and two friends hit the road back to Utah county. It was such an amazing weekend! The first two weeks of school have been tough and it was nice to have a little vacation away from the stress.
*Saturday*
I hung out at the Grandparents house and had a "produce party". We picked corn, husked it, bagged it and also canned peaches all morning. Let's just say watching my mom and grandma bustle around the kitchen trying to teach me about canning made me really grateful that I still have time to learn how to be a mom and wife someday cause I am no where near experienced for that kind of thing. My favorite part of course was taking the peels and husks out to the pasture and making new best friends with all the cows
my cousin Megan's baby shower was that afternoon which worked out perfectly for me to be in town for. She looks adorable and I can't wait to see her baby girl in a about a month.
all I gotta say was Go Cougs!!! That game was amazing! Still can't believe they beat em but definitely kudos. (Thanks for letting us all invade your house and for the amazing dip Ash)

(ps. I have the cutest grandpa)
*Sunday*
I got to go visit my old ward, I miss them so much!! Our guy friends were so much fun this summer and it made my day to see them again. Also got to see my old roommate and condo. Lisa rearranged it and added a huge red love sac, yeah looks way better now and I miss it.
I finally got to see Jenny again! this was the longest separation we've ever had and it was so fun to go on a long scooter ride and catch up on each others summers. I still we wish lived in the same town.
Jeni came down to visit and we went to Bicentennial Park with her sister Jessica. We walked through the swampland, got freaked out and came running, screaming out of it. quite the sight to see I'm sure.

*Monday*
I forgot my suit so while everyone else went to 7 Peaks I hung out with my mom and niece, pretended to study and ended up taking a much needed nap! apparently everyone else was tired on labor day...
